David Figlio is the Knight-Ridder Professor of Economics and
Rsearch Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He received his
Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1995. After spending three
years at the University of Oregon, Professor Figlio joined the Florida faculty
in 1998. Professor Figlio is an expert in the fields of education and public
finance. His recent work includes evaluating the intended and unintended
consequences of school accountability initiatives, measuring the efficacy of
pre-kindergarten programs, and identifying the determinants and effects of
teacher expectations on students. He is the inaugural editor of the new MIT
Press journal Education Finance and Policy. Professor Figlio's research has
been published in top journals such as the American Economic Review, Journal of
Public Economics and the Journal of Law and Economics, and has been funded by
the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, U.S. Departments
of Agriculture, Education and Health and Human Services, as well as numerous
private foundations. He has also assisted several foreign countries in the
development and evaluation of their education policies. |
